Jeffrey Brownson

Jeff is a criminal defense attorney. He defends clients facing charges in virtually every type of criminal matter, ranging from misdemeanors to allegations involving complex financial transactions. He also frequently represents clients in DOJ and grand jury investigations.

Jeff has extensive trial experience. He has obtained acquittals in some of Idaho’s most recent high-stakes and high-profile cases. He completed the Trial Practice Institute at the National Criminal Defense College in Macon, Georgia, in 2009. Jeff is a member of the ACLU of Idaho Legal Committee, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), and the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (IACDL). He frequently speaks on various legal topics, including civil liberties. 

After graduating from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2006, Jeff was a staff attorney for the Honorable Michael McLaughlin of the Fourth Judicial District of Idaho, where he worked on numerous criminal and civil cases. Jeff subsequently practiced criminal defense for over six years at Nevin Benjamin McKay & Bartlett before opening his law firm. 

Jeff is admitted to practice in Idaho, the United States District Court for the District of Idaho, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Jeff has been recognized by Mountain States Super Lawyers Magazine every year since 2020. This publication features the top 5% of lawyers in Nevada, Utah, Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming.
